At Hogan Lovells, training and continuous professional development is a priority for all staff throughout their career, starting with our four week induction programme. We invest heavily in our people and actively encourage your legal ability and personal development by continuously increasing your knowledge and skills.

As a trainee you will effectively spend two years learning what it takes to become a 'Hogan Lovells lawyer'. We enhance our on-the-job training with a series of lunch-time seminars dedicated to trainees, and covering a wide variety of legal topics. These supplement the training for qualified lawyers (which you will also receive where relevant) and fill the knowledge gap between legal study and commercial practice.

People learn in different ways, so we adopt a variety of learning tools ranging from face-to-face lectures to online courses, group meetings, out-of-office retreats, international workshops (via video/internet link) and smaller coaching sessions. We were the first firm in Asia to offer a formalised mentoring and coaching programme for trainees and we have a network of professional support lawyers to assist you in maximising your use of the firm's know-how resources.

Upon qualification we will send you on a comprehensive foundation course most relevant to your area of speciality (litigation, banking or corporate) and of course you will continue to be offered a structured programme of legal and skills training suited to your changing needs, including core courses, practice area retreats and language tuition (e.g. drafting in plain English and intermediate and advanced Mandarin).
