What have been your career highlights?
There are quite a few, having been here for so long, and as a litigator, every victory would be a career highlight. I am glad to say there have been a few major victories. If one has to name one or two, I would say the success in the Long Valley litigation before the Environmental Appeal Tribunal. We acted for the Environmental Protection Department ("EPD") and successfully resisted KCRC's appeal against the EPD's rejection of its plan to build Viaducts over Long Valley, a known habitat for over 200 species of birds, linking Sheung Shui to Lok Ma Chau , a second check point to the mainland, to ease the congestion at Lo Wu. KCRC ended up building a tunnel, thus keeping the birds sanctuary intact. That was a landmark decision, and the first of its kind. I felt great not least because we were able to preserve a most valuable piece of wetland.
What is the best thing about Hogan Lovells?
The friendliness of the firm, its collegiate spirit. That's what has kept me here for nearly 22 years.
