From the moment, you join the firm your professional development at Lovells is a priority. You will be assigned a mentor, a personnel development programme and you will have a programme of legal training courses tailored to development you may need in your area of expertise.

There is also the possibility of temporary secondments to one of our international offices or the in-house legal team of one of our clients.

Lawyer Career Model

Our lawyer career model was introduced to the firm in May 2007 in order to offer increased opportunities and choice within the lawyer career structure and to ensure we nurture the talent of all our lawyers.

 * It is possible to be promoted to Partner either from Senior Associate or from Of Counsel.

 Our lawyer career model provides our lawyers with:

  • A continuing emphasis on merit where progression is determined with reference to an individual's ability, skills and performance rather than just time served or PQE
  • The creation of a grade of Senior Associate lawyers who are motivated and able to help the firm achieve its overall vision and strategy
  • A more structured career path for lawyers that gives greater clarity to their careers and which is supported by a training and development programme that ensures our lawyers develop the skills needed for progression  to Of Counsel and Partner at an earlier stage
  • The opportunity for lawyers to build a portfolio of recognised, transferable skills, as well as their greater commercial awareness in managing their own careers.
