The concept of "social diversity" has been topical in Anglo‑Saxon countries for many years. Hogan Lovells, too, has been putting diversity first for a long time.

We are convinced that a diverse mix of people is vital for our firm. Mutual respect and esteem among all of our people not only makes for a pleasant, positive working environment but also improves the services we provide to our clients. We are pro-active in preventing discrimination against minorities and improving equal opportunities.

Diversity at Hogan Lovells is part of our corporate social responsibility activities, in addition to pro bono, charity and environmental activities (Citizenship Report 2010). Due to the increasing importance of diversity in the business world, we have set up local and international committees to discuss individual initiatives and exchange information.

The different diversity issues are weighted and prioritised differently in different countries. In Germany, supporting women within the firm and preventing discrimination on the basis of age or sexual orientation are our main focus areas.

Therefore we are intensifying the career opportunities of our women lawyers by starting our new Women@HL programme.

The majority of our clients having an international focus also promote diversity within their companies and welcome our increasing commitment in this area.
