When did you join the firm?
September 2006.
What have been your career highlights?
Highlights are usually where I secure a deal in difficult circumstances, e.g. because of time pressure or because the other side have been difficult and things have looked touch-and-go. A more unusual highlight was where, shortly after I qualified, I worked on a transaction where the client was being advised by five different Lovells offices across the world and, furthermore, by a number of practice areas within each office. It was thrilling to work alongside our other offices and departments, and being the only one with expertise in your particular area does make you feel like a specialist!
What, in your view, is the one best thing about Hogan Lovells?
There’s a genuine culture of sharing knowledge. It’s particularly useful being able to call up people in my old trainee intake with random banking/corporate/employment questions that they usually know off the top of their heads, and I’m always happy to do the same when real estate questions crop up in their work.
What is your favorite book?
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, especially when listened to as an audio book narrated by Douglas Adams who does all the voices himself (and no one does paranoid android like he does!)
