When did you join the firm?
I joined the firm in August 2004, working in the cash office for a brief period of time as a disbursements processor before joining the client account team. It was whilst working for the client account team that I was offered a role in the financial reporting department to train as an accountant with the firm.
What have been your career highlights?
The biggest highlight of my career to date was completing my training as an accountant. After three and a half years of various evening classes, weekend revision courses, revision at home and fourteen exams, becoming a fully qualified accountant was a big step in the right direction for my career.
The wide range of work I have been exposed to, both as a trainee and qualified accountant, has been another highlight of working at Hogan Lovells. I value the international aspect of my role, liaising with people both in the London and overseas offices. I feel I have been given the opportunity to follow a more varied role at Hogan Lovells, than I may have been given if training with an accountancy practice.
What, in your view, is the one best thing about Hogan Lovells?
I would say one of the best thing about Hogan Lovells is the people I get to work with on a day to day basis. There is a great balance between hard work, pulling together as a team when required and the friendly banter that exists, both in the office or in the pub on a Friday evening.
What has been your best holiday?
My best holiday (to date) was the year out I took between university and starting work. I was fortunate enough to spend eight months exploring the far east and Australasia, travelling solo for the most part, seeing amazing sights and meeting many great people along the way.
